"Extra"

There is life beyond work (a key reason workplace effectiveness is so critical). C.C. Wargel's founder, Claudine C. Wargel, marked these "out-of-firm" experiences in recent months.

Wargel Named Paul Harris Fellow

Nearly 40 DeWitt County Rotarians were on-hand in June 2004 to present Claudine Wargel with the esteemed Paul Harris Fellow award. The honor, bestowed by Rotary International, normally is reserved to honor Rotarians who perform outstanding acts of selflessness in their local communities. A non-member, Ms. Wargel was honored for public relations and fund-raising work that led to the construction of Clinton's Ultimate Play Space. Ms. Wargel and UPS General Coordinator Camill Tedrick, General Manager for Clinton's Brady/Weaver GMAC Realty, volunteered countless hours toward to the project.

Ultimate Play Space Completed

Hundreds of DeWitt County children made a frenzied rush into their new playground on October 12, 2003. The 8,000-square-foot, wood frame play area was constructed from scratch by several hundred local volunteers. The six-day construction took place under the guidance of two engineers from Leathers & Associates of Ithaca, NY, a company that has guided the creation of more than 1,600 community-built playgrounds in the U.S., Israel and Canada. Claudine C. Wargel led public relations and fund-raising efforts to generate more than $90,000 in cash and in-kind contributions.

C.C. Wargel Consulting Weathers Tornado

C.C. Wargel Consulting was one of several Clinton, Ill., businesses to suffer damages during unstable weather in May of 2003. The night of May 30, three tornadoes passed across the south side of Clinton, leveling five businesses less than one-quarter mile south of C.C. Wargel Consulting. The country property surrounding the business lost 42 trees, many estimated in age between 75 and 125 years. Altogether, the battered region suffered roughly $9 million in damages. Thanks to the clean-up efforts of local volunteers, the office of C.C. Wargel Consulting was closed for just one week in the wake of the disaster. Suffice it to say, no amount of media training prepares one for the post-tornado television interview.
